Historical photo gallery, depicting the media frenzy and the morbidly festive atmosphere surrounding Ted Bundy’s execution day.

Bundy died at 7:16 a.m., on January 24, 1989 after a night of weeping and praying.

Around 500 of revelers, including 20 off-duty police officers sang, hugged, danced and set off fireworks in a pasture across the street from the Florida State prison as the execution was carried out.
